As a future pastor, I am entering a dark mission field. America is being dominated by liberal dogma that preaches sacred autonomy. With abortion, the left thinks they get to decide whether or not an infant is a human being which apparently gives them the “right” to kill it. They have replaced infanticide with the synonym pro-choice, giving the façade that their pro-choice movement is a righteous cause when in reality it is indicative of wickedness. Pro-choice is not about women’s rights; it’s about the freedom to murder while the government removes the guilt. In the midst of this, the left has rioted in the streets destroying businesses because they lack the capacity to cope with the fact that they lost the election, failing to understand that one reason for losing the election was nominating a criminally corrupt candidate. Subsequent to this they act as if their hypocritical violence never happened by marching a “peaceful” protest in the Women’s March, protesting for rights that women already have. Claiming it was a “peaceful” protest, they incited infant murder and Madonna incited domestic terrorism to blow up the White House as thousands cheered.
The darkness looming over my country breaks my heart. I served for my country, sacrificing my life for people who do not fully appreciate the rights they have, concocting false “rights” to gratify their imagined sacredness of the self. God’s judgement on such wickedness has been proclaimed. Yet, “Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practise such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practise them” (Romans 1:32).
I am only a man, so what can I do but pray? I often find myself lifting up my arms in frustration, saying, “What else is there that I can do apart from preaching Your Word with the light of Your grace? They do not listen.” Evil seems ubiquitous, yet I am reminded of this amazing truth: “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins. It was to show His righteousness at the present time, so that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:21-26). In spite of this looming darkness, God still offers the full covering of our sin because of the Jesus’ propitiation—taking the place for God’s wrath that we justly deserve.
I am also reminded of the following, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). In spite of all this sin and wickedness, I am reminded of God’s undeserving grace even for these lovers of wickedness. There is nothing more I can do than what I have already done: preaching the light of the Gospel of Christ in a world courting with evil. In a world that’s in moral chaos, it is easy to forget God is in control. Proverbs 16:4, “The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.” Everything has a purpose, even wickedness which serves the purpose of being destroyed. It may not be today, and it may not be tomorrow, but God will utterly destroy the wickedness we witness in our day. Let us remember the following Word, which is not read often enough, “Now in putting everything in subjection to [Christ], He left nothing outside His control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to Him” (Hebrews 2:8). Everything is in God’s control. Even those things which we cannot see are in His control. In this chaos, it appears as if God is not in control, but as the One who upholds all of creation (Colossians 1:16-17), He indeed has control. As its controller, He will bring wickedness to destruction.
